The KangaRingTM
Story
Constantly chasing her cell phone over the floor of her car inspired
inventor Linda Schuerman Anderson to create the KANGARING™
cell phone holder.
“Like so many
other people, I was constantly losing track of my cell phone in my car.
I used to leave my cell phone in the car and plugged in all of the time.
When I needed my phone, I would reach around on the floor to find it.
When I put my foot on the brakes, the phone would come sliding out from
under the seat and get in my way. After trying a variety of products, I
knew there had to be a better way. And I found it!”
Linda
dedicated herself to researching and developing a new cell phone storage
solution that would revolutionize the industry. After looking at the
placement of the accessory outlet in hundreds of cars and testing
several prototypes, the KangaRing™
was born. The KangaRing™
quickly became a new player in the phone accessory market. Its easy-to
use design and universal mounting system works in every car by plugging
the phone charger through the Kanga“Ring”™
and into the cigarette lighter/ accessory outlet. The KangaRing™
does not scratch, dent, or use any “sticky substances” in the car’s
interior and is far superior to its competitors.
After hearing
“it’s a great idea, but I don’t know if it will sell” from a few large
companies, Linda decided to manufacture and market the KANGARING™
herself and PROVE that it would sell. The first displays were assembled
in her living room, had a HUGE picture of the product in use and held 24
units. The first customer was a local family-owned car wash. They sold
2 in the first two hours the display was on the shelf. That first month
they sold 17 units and KangaRing™
was off with a bang! Targeting car dealerships and car washes, Linda
sold over 13,000 units herself in the Phoenix area.
“My first
customer still sells the KANGARING™,
but they now purchase through my distributor. The car washes and
dealerships keep re-ordering. I have new individual packaging and have
just come out with a new design. But most of all, I have shown that
people love this product and they PROVE it by buying it over and over
again.”
Through
her membership in the Inventors Association of Arizona Linda gained
valuable knowledge and experience working with other inventors.
Patent protection, understanding manufacturing and distribution costs,
preparing and working from a business plan, and calculating the
profitability of a new product are all processes she has utilized in
developing this product. Helping and being helped by other
inventors has kept her focused and optimistic. More information about
the inventors group can be found at

Anderson says
“It is time to take the KangaRing™
to the next level. People buy this simple but effective solution to the
cell phone storage problem and there really is nothing on the market
like it. We are currently selling only one KANGARING™
model, but we are ready to add many variations, all covered by the
patent. I am actively looking for companies with large distribution who
are interested in adding the KangaRing™
group of products with its proven track record to their product line.” |
